The Foreign Accents story begins in Santa Fe New Mexico, 1984 in a small garage, while bands like Duran Duran were perfecting their sound, Trish and Wolfgang Rempen began designing and creating affordable area rugs with contemporary style. It wasn’t long before they had their own retail showroom showcasing their unique and modern rugs.
With the assistance of magical garden gnomes and an army of helpful elves Trish and Wolfgang burned the midnight oil for years creating rug after rug and one day they noticed they had a very successful company. (* We added the “army of elves” bit but as far as we know the magical garden gnomes really do exist!) Today Foreign Accents supplies The Rug Pile and other companies with their beautiful contemporary area rugs. Trish is always expanding their business by attending market trade shows and constantly improving their rug designs and quality.

A Little Foreign Accents History
Foreign Accents rugs have massive contemporary appeal. These modern rugs are works of art. Our Foreign Accents fine wool rugs and New Zealand wool rugs are expertly hand made. Hand made rugs are usually not inexpensive but this is where The Rug Pile can help. In addition to the complete Foreign Accents line of area rugs we offer our customers discontinued Foreign Accents rugs. Not all of the discontinued rugs are wool or hand made but many of them are.
Foreign Accents has been making area rugs for the past 23 years and has worked with manufacturing partners in over 30 countries. In 1998 Foreign Accents designed and built their own offices and warehouse in Albuquerque, NM which they still occupy to this day. Wolfgang no longer works with the company but rumors say that there are a few magical gnomes hiding in the warehouse.
Trish has been at the helm of Foreign Accents since 2005 and
is responsible for all the beautiful contemporary rugs currently in their
catalogue. Trish speaks 4 languages, loves Indian food and drives a beloved
Volvo which is almost as old as the company. It seems the garden gnomes are very
good mechanics.
